Skirting the eastern side of the Grand Tetons in the American Northwest is the sometimes placid Snake River headwaters.  The Snake's ultimate course drains parts of 6 western states before it joins the Columbia and enters the Pacific Ocean hundreds of miles to the west.  Here, however, one's casual stroll is in silent and tranquil beauty.
